At Viva Skin Lounge, we love when clients ask questions. The more you understand your treatments, the better your results will be. Here are answers to some questions we get in the treatment room.
1. “If I get Botox, will it make these lines go away?”

The short answer: most likely not completely—at least not right away.
The lines you’re referring to are static lines, which appear even when your face is at rest. These are often etched into the skin after years of repeated movement.
While Botox (or other neurotoxins like Dysport, Jeuveau, or Xeomin) will prevent the muscle from creating more movement—and stop those lines from getting worse—it won’t erase deep static lines on its own.
To improve static lines, we often recommend combining treatments like:
- Medical-grade skincare (ZO or SkinBetter) to support skin health and collagen
- PDO twist threads placed directly into the lines
- SkinPen microneedling to resurface the skin
- CO₂ laser resurfacing for deeper texture correction
Consistency matters. Regular neurotoxin treatments every 3–4 months will help prevent further etching and maintain smoother skin over time.

2. “Will I benefit from a lip flip?”

A quick way to find out: look in the mirror and smile big.
Does your top lip curl under or seem to disappear?
Does your smile look a little “gummy”?
If you answered yes to either, a lip flip could be a great option. Botox placed above the upper lip relaxes the muscle that causes it to curl under, allowing more of your natural lip to show, creating the illusion of fuller lips.
A few key things to know:
- A lip flip does not add volume, it just changes muscle movement.
- If you also have a gummy smile, we can add a few units on each side of the nose to reduce gum show.
- Many clients choose to start with a lip flip, then later add filler for volume if desired.
It’s a subtle, beautiful enhancement that balances your smile and lip shape. This typically lasts about 6-8 weeks and can be retreated every 90 days.
3. “How do I know how much lip filler I’ll need?”

Every lip is different! Factors like tissue and anatomy play a big role.
If your lips appear dehydrated or have fine lines, you’re probably a great candidate for filler. For those with tighter or thinner lips, we often start slow.
At Viva Skin Lounge, we offer three filler options:
- Lip Tease (0.3 mL) – subtle enhancement
- Mini Lip (0.5 mL) – half syringe
- Full Syringe (1 mL) – equivalent to about the size of one blueberry
We rarely go over 1 mL per session. The safest approach is to build gradually, waiting 2–4 weeks between sessions. Every lip has a limit, and our injectors will guide you on when it’s time to stop adding volume to avoid migration.
For the best results, your injector may combine:
- Lip filler for volume
- Lip flip for shape
- Gummy smile Botox for balance
- PDO twist threads for support around the border

4. “What can I do for my under eyes? I feel like I look tired.”

Under-eye concerns are complex, and the best plan starts with a full-face assessment.
We first look at midface volume (cheeks), because loss there can make under-eye hollows appear worse. Then we assess:
- Skin laxity and thickness
- Fine lines and crepiness
- Dark circles or puffiness
Depending on what’s causing the concern, we may recommend:
- PRF injections to improve brightness, fine lines, and mild hollows
- SkinPen microneedling or CO₂ laser for texture and tightening
- Jelly roll Tox for tiny smile-related wrinkles (if skin isn’t too loose)
- Medical-grade skincare for long-term maintenance
Tear trough filler is rarely our first choice—it’s only appropriate in about 10% of cases. Most clients get far better results from collagen-stimulation and skin-quality treatments.
An in-person consultation helps us determine what combination will give you the most natural improvement.
5. “What can I do for these lines getting deeper when I smile?”

You’re likely noticing nasolabial folds (NLF) and radial cheek lines.
Everyone has NLFs, but they can appear deeper with age, collagen loss, and side-sleeping habits. Sometimes one side looks deeper simply because you sleep on it more.
We approach this area holistically—top-down and lateral-to-medial—by assessing your:
- Temples
- Cheeks
- Pyriform space
- Actual fold depth
If you have overall volume loss, we usually recommend Sculptra or Radiesse first to rebuild structure and collagen. Once support is restored, we can fine-tune with filler if needed.
For the smaller radial cheek lines, options include:
- Sculptra or Radiesse (biostimulators)
- CO₂ laser or SkinPen microneedling
- Skinvive for hydration and glow
A custom plan will depend on your anatomy, goals, and downtime tolerance.
